Gen. Wesley Clark has served the in the United States with honor for 34 years. He was the Supreme Allied Commander of Nato (SACEUR) and a US presidetial candidate in 2004. Almost immediately after becoming SACEUR Clark started pushing for NATO membership for Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic. He became the first NATO commander to visit Prague after the fall of Communism. His legacy in the region is marked by these efforts and Kosovo.
